From the hard road to a safe home, we’re building a place where every life matters.
Born to Purr began with the belief that all cats should be given a chance to live, regardless of age, disability, or illness. Our vision is to create a sanctuary—a place built with heart and hard work—where rescued cats can finally rest, heal, and belong.
The road starts with land. Once we have it, we’ll do what we’ve always done: roll up our sleeves and make something real. Catteries built from raw materials, prefab tiny homes, trailers—whatever we can turn into warm, safe spaces where cats can live with dignity and comfort.
We’re currently based near Salt Lake City, Utah, and looking for land in the surrounding area where this dream can take root.
This sanctuary won’t rise overnight, and it won’t be built alone. It will come together the way all good things do—through community, generosity, and people who believe in showing up.
If you have land to donate or allow us to use, or materials that could help us build, we’d be honored to have you standing with us. Because when we build with our own hands—and with each other—we create more than shelter. We create hope.
What We Will Build
At the heart of the sanctuary will be Land of Hope and Dreams, our intake space—the first stop for cats arriving from the streets, shelters, and uncertain situations. It’s where their journey toward safety and healing begins.
Younger, more playful cats will find their place in Tenth Avenue Purrout, a lively space designed for energy, enrichment, and socialization, where curiosity is encouraged and personalities can shine.
Our senior cats will have a peaceful haven in Catlantic City, a quiet, comfortable area created especially for older souls who deserve warmth, dignity, and a slower pace.
Cats facing medical challenges will be cared for in Meowing in the Dark, a dedicated space for those with illnesses who need extra monitoring, compassion, and calm as they heal.
Hands-on care will happen in Human Touch, our medical and physical therapy area, where cats receive treatments, rehabilitation, and the gentle, loving contact that helps them recover and trust again.
To honor the cats who leave pawprints on our hearts, the sanctuary will include The Ghost of Tom Cat Joad, a memorial garden—a place to remember, reflect, and celebrate lives that were deeply loved.
And beyond the buildings, Jungleland will provide an outdoor area for community cats, offering safe shelter, enrichment, and protection for those who live outside but still deserve care and respect.
Together, these spaces will form more than a sanctuary. They will create a place of hope, healing, and belonging—built with intention, inspired by music, and rooted in compassion.
