Mighty Max
Named after Max Weinberg of the E. Street Band, Mighty Max was found wandering, weak from hunger and exhaustion. We immediately took him for medical care. Though severely malnourished and in need of neutering and dental treatment, Max does not suffer from any serious illness. His life could have ended there—but we believed he deserved a chance to recover, to feel safe, and to be loved. Today, he is thriving, gaining weight, ruling over the cattery as a tiny senior overlord, and seeking all the attention he can get.
Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds
Lucy is a diamond in the rough—and a little starlet waiting to shine.
We rescued Lucy from a local animal shelter after she was found wandering a neighborhood, going from house to house, meowing for food and affection. She had a home once, but no one came looking for her, and she's been surviving on the streets for a long time.
We’re giving her the time, care, and nourishment she needs to restore her health and let her true beauty shine.
With her brilliant blue eyes, beautiful mix of white, gray, and tan fur, and impossibly sweet personality, Lucy is a little beauty with a big heart. She seems to know she’s been given a second chance—and she’s incredibly grateful to be here. We’re just as grateful to have her.
Davey
Meet Davey, a handsome older gentleman who looks remarkably like Bagheera from The Jungle Book. Davey came to Born to Purr as a transfer from Best Friends in Sugarhouse, UT, where he had been living in a cage since the end of July. Davey has complex medical issues, including possible FIP and/or cancer, and is currently on a trial medication for FIP. His future is uncertain, and hospice care may ultimately be part of his journey. But Davey has something very clear to say about his needs: he wants love. He is incredibly talkative, affectionate, and a total lap cat who loves to climb all over you and soak up attention. Despite everything he has been through, Davey has so much love to give.
Davey embodies why Born to Purr exists—to give older, sick, and overlooked cats the love, comfort, and dignity they deserve. His future may be uncertain, but one thing is certain: Davey is very, very special.
Tom Morello
Tom Morello is an anomaly, a Scottish Fold street cat with sharp senses, a rebel spirit, and wondrous eyes that have seen more than they could every say. Quietly courageous, he's had his share of battles and suffered a leg injury some years ago.
Now, for the first time, Tom has an indoor home at Born to Purr Cat Sanctuary. He no longer has to wonder where his next meal will come from, where he'll sleep tonight, or face the world alone while living with pain.
Honey
Adopted!
Honey is a sweet young cat with a big personality and a story we wish we knew more about. She was found crouching alongside a busy road—hungry, frightened, and clearly unsure of what had happened to her.
At about a year old, Honey is friendly but understandably a little skittish. Once she feels safe, her playful personality shines through. She loves to roll around, play, and generally entertain anyone lucky enough to be watching. There’s something wonderfully funny and endearing about this sleek little cat.
With her glossy coat and graceful build, Honey looks like a miniature jaguar—and now she’s looking for a jungle of her own.
Valentina
Valentina is a young cat with a back leg injury that left her with a gentle limp and an endearing bunny hop. Despite her condition, she is not in pain and moves through life with resilience and spirit. Still, outdoor life is no longer safe for her. She is thriving—enjoying consistent meals, a safe place to rest, and plenty of playtime. At night, she transforms into her own source of entertainment, happily batting at toys and chasing stuffed mice.
Aurora
Aurora was found on the streets, terribly matted and in need of help. Despite everything she had been through, she was incredibly friendly from the moment she arrived at Born to Purr. With her beautiful orange eyes and a coat that will be luxurious once restored, Aurora is a real beauty. But it’s her sweet personality that makes her special. She loves to head-butt, wiggle in for love, and purr whenever she gets attention. Aurora is currently being treated for a URI while we focus on getting her healthy and comfortable. One day she may be ready for adoption, but for now, she is enjoying the safety, care, and love she deserves. Welcome home, sweet Aurora. Your new beginning starts here.
Margie
Margie is the kind of cat who reminds us why we rescue. This sweet older lady came to us from the Salt Lake County Animal Shelter. Margie has spondylosis, a painful spinal condition, along with arthritis and a heart murmur. Because of her age and medical needs, no one was coming forward to adopt her. Her fate was likely to be spending her remaining years in a steel shelter cage. We said yes to Margie right away. Now, she is exactly where she belongs—with warmth, comfort, medication to manage her pain and heart condition, and the gentle, loving care she deserves. She has a heating pad to keep her old bones cozy and a safe place where she can move at her own pace. And Margie has something to say about all of it. She is VERY vocal! She will happily tell you what she thinks. She moves slowly, but there is a quiet wisdom in her. She has the soulful presence of a cat who has lived a lot of life and still has plenty of love to give. There is something incredibly special about sitting with Margie and watching her settle into the comfort she once didn't have.
Leo
At 20 years old, Leo is officially the oldest cat at Born to Purr! This distinguished gentleman came to us from South Salt Lake Animal Services after being surrendered by his owner. With his luxurious gray-and-white coat, beautiful swirling patterns, and dignified presence, Leo is quite the handsome fellow—and looks remarkably good for a cat his age!
Leo is deaf, but he knows exactly what he likes: a good cheek rub and all the love you have to give. We simply couldn't bear the thought of him spending his well-earned retirement in a shelter cage. Now, the sanctuary is his home, where he'll be surrounded by comfort, kindness, and all the luxuries we can provide.
